Indonesian Ambassador to Promote Tourism to Sweden

Indonesian Ambassador for Sweden and Latvia, Raden Bagas Hapsoro, took a visit to some of tourist destinations in Indonesia including Banyuwangi, East Java. Bagas believes that a number of travel destinations in Banyuwangi can be promoted to Sweden.

Mt Ijen, Alas Purwo National Park, and Meru Betiri National Park are among the destinations that caught Bagas eye. Banyuwangi had also won the UNWTO Award in Madrid, Spain. The award was handed over by the World Tourism Organization for the city’s innovations in developing its tourism potential.

Other regions such as Aceh, Manado, and Palu are also on the Ambbasador’s list of travel destinations to visit. “Swedish tourists prefer ecotourism,” Bagas explained when he visited Banyuwangi on Wednesay, January 26.

Bayuwangi tourism has helped boost tourist visit to Indonesia up to 161 percent, from 651,500 people in 2010 to 1,701,230 tourists in 2015. Foreign tourist visit has increased from around 13,200 in 2010 to 41,000 in 2015.
