Playing with Water at Teras Cikapundung

The downstream of Cikapundung River on the side of Siliwangi Street becomes Bandung’s new public space which was opened in January 30. Known as Teras Cikapundung, the site is designed for visitors to appreciate the river and keep it clean. Teras Cikapundung has an amphitheater that can accommodate up to 500 people. Artistic design is prominent on this riverbank tourist spot as there is also a musical water fountain. Three water fountains welcome tourist who enter from the single entrance on the south side. Next to these water fountains, the musical fountain is played twice a day at 16:00 and 20:00 local time.

The walls around the fountains is decorated with murals and sculptures that enliven the public space. Public facilities such as mushalla and toilets are also available. Between the terrace’s steps, small gardens uniquely designed with stones.

Visitors may sit in the amphitheater or on the benches available on the park to enjoy the cool air. “The place looks better, it does not look dirty like it used to be,” said a visitor Indah Aura.

A number of water sport activities are also offered such as tubing, riverboarding and rubber boat riding. The river is relatively shallow but the water gets higher during the rain. The tickets for the activities are ranging from Rp5,000 to Rp10,000 for people older than 7.
